Vistal Group, a leading manufacturer of large-sized, specialised steel structures in Poland, executing contracts for clients in Poland and abroad, has won a significant contract in the offshore segment (oil and gas extraction), for the construction of elements of the drilling platform in the Johan Sverdrup field on the Norwegian North Sea shelf. The contract worth PLN 75.5 million was signed with the Norwegian company Aibel – a leading supplier in the field of oil & gas and renewable energy. Preparatory work will start this year and the contract is scheduled to be completed by the end of 2016.

The work to be carried out by the Vistal Group under the contract will include construction of a part of the drilling module, which is the second largest of the three modules comprising the rig.
We are pleased to sign such a significant contract with a large player in the offshore industry. This contract confirms the implementation of our long-term development strategy. Its conclusion would not have been possible without the investments we made in the years 2010-2014, investing in the development of more than PLN 140 million, which allowed us, among others, to purchase our own land in the Port of Gdynia, with direct access to the sea and to build a new, unique in the Baltic Sea, production hall at Indian Quay. At the facility we can build the most complex, technically advanced, large-size steel structures and then transport them by sea. This is our significant competitive advantage. The contract for Aibel will be carried out in the new hall. Work on the platform in the Johan Sverdrup field is one of the largest oil&gas projects currently underway in the world – says Ryszard Matyka, President of the Management Board of Vistal Gdynia SA. more
